Looking for cost-effective, energy-efficient building solutions.
The Department of Energy issued a Request for Information (RFI) to inform how $225 million can be best used to improve American building codes. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law allocated this money to update building codes to more energy-efficient standards, but because building codes address a wide variety of variables, the opinions of a wide variety of professions are necessary to construct a practical and usable building code update.
“Slashing building emissions is an absolute ‘must-do’ on the path to beating the climate crisis,” said Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm. “We’re seeking public feedback on how to optimize every step of the building code adoption process, from education to implementation, to lower energy bills and create cleaner and healthier communities for every American.”
